A Novel Data and Entity-Centric Reputation Management Scheme with Hybrid Architecture for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks
Secure data sharing • Hybrid architecture design • Reputation management system • VANET Technology
Project Summary & Objective
One of the significant problems following the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake was the unexpected congestion on the roads due to momentary high traffic volumes and disaster-related damages, which forced vehicles to change their routes. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), which offer innovative methods to improve traffic management to reduce accidents and prevent congestion, play a crucial role in today’s digital world both in academia and industry.
Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs), formed by using wireless communication technology between vehicles and roadside units, provide the infrastructure for various traffic scenarios. However, the open communication nature of these networks makes them vulnerable to attacks. Taking precautions against insider attacks, especially in the dissemination of emergency messages, is imperative.
In this study, by combining centralized and distributed trust approaches, a new trust management scheme will be proposed. This scheme will account for both data and entity-centric trust parameters, be resilient against smart attacks, feature trust metrics adaptable to environmental conditions, and utilize social metrics.
Project Goals
- To propose a hybrid trust management scheme combining centralized and distributed trust approaches.
- To integrate both data and entity-centric trust parameters.
- To increase resilience against smart attacks in vehicular networks.
